Drewry Webinar

My colleague Perry and I attended the Drewry Webinar on the “container market outlook” today.

It was a very interesting webinar and it is worth to say that the outlook is still very promising, but also holds the traditional Crystal Ball outlook!!!!

The world port handling is expected to increase by just over 8% this year. This percentage was downgraded by 2% as initial indications were over 10%.

The outlook for 2022 is guided at just over 5%, although rising inflationary pressures stand out as a downside risk. It could partly be caused by supply chain inefficiencies.

Given the freight rate development in the 2nd and 3rd quarter of this year many of the top 10 global shipping lines are predicting higher results for the entire year.

In the first 6 months of this year the EBIT margins averaged 37% for these Carriers. Despite certain supply chain bottlenecks similar results are expected for 2022.
